Self-care is not selfish.
Therapy for self-esteem in Birmingham, AL
You're exhausted from constantly feeling like you aren’t doing enough.
It’s like you can never let things go.
Are you someone who is hard on yourself? Do you always strive to do your best? You might also notice you obsess over what other people think of you, no matter the situation. Have you ever paid attention to things you say to yourself when you feel like you’ve failed, made a mistake, said the wrong thing? I bet you it’s pretty harsh. Some people feel that beating themselves up keeps them on track or will motivate them to do better next time; it’s actually the opposite.
If we hear something enough, we will begin believe that it’s true. Even the things we tell ourselves. Your most important relationship is the one you have with yourself.
I’m here for you.
You’re allowed to slow down and give yourself a break.
Some people are “working for their worth” and don’t even know it. Everyone is born with innate self-worth; it doesn’t have to be earned. So why do you still feel the need to be perfect?
Feel familiar?
Struggling with negative thoughts
Ready to stop going “above and beyond” every time
Wishing that you could be ok with making mistakes
Hoping everyone likes you
Here’s what we’ll do together
Therapy to improve self-esteem can help you discover how you really feel about yourself and why.
During therapy for self esteem, we will discover what core beliefs you have about yourself and where those stem from. You will learn to identify negative self talk and learn why it isn’t actually working for you. I will teach you how to challenge the negative thoughts you have about yourself and what to say instead. We will also discuss ways to manage stress and anxiety. I am going to ask you to slow down and this can often be scary and stressful. You’ll have the tools to cope with your thoughts and feelings in the moments when I ask you to pause and consider why you’re committing to adding yet another thing on your plate.
The idea of being able to “love and accept yourself” often feels unattainable, so I ask clients to envision feeling more neutral about themselves first. Let’s at least ditch the belief that “I suck at everything” and work towards a “maybe I’m not so bad” approach.
When all is said and done, here’s the thing:
You are more than your accomplishments.
What we’ll work on
Imagine a life where…
01you feel more confident in yourself
In your decisions, in relationships, at work, with your body image
02you can make mistakes without spiraling
Perfection is a myth; it doesn’t exist. So of course you’re going to make mistakes!
03you have the space & time to relax
It’s OK to say no to something or someone, even if you think you don’t have a “good reason”.
Discover the satisfaction you’ve been longing for.
Confidence is possible. I’ll help you get there.
