Meet Ashleigh, lIcsw
It’s time to invest in yourself.
I’m a Birmingham-based therapist specializing in self-esteem, anxiety, & relationships.
I want you to truly hear this:
Seeking help isn’t a sign of weakness—it’s a testament to your strength.
How I work
At the core of my approach to therapy is a belief that therapy should not be “one size fits all”
Counseling should always be a positive experience, but when sessions are not tailored to the individual, people can walk away feeling invisible. My goal is to provide you with the therapy experience you want and need and ensure you feel seen and heard. I encourage all my clients to be open and honest. Let me know if you don’t like something or if you want more of one thing and less of another.
From talking with clients, I have gathered that there is a spectrum to therapists: the therapist that sits, smiles, and nods providing little to no feedback and the therapist that is focused on a rigid treatment plan, even when it may not be working. I fall somewhere in the middle of that spectrum. I believe you are the expert on you. I want to hear from you and let you process out loud. I never want to talk more than you in a session. However, I am not afraid to interrupt an provide a different perspective when I disagree or think something deserves more discussion.
My clients enjoy counseling with me because they feel comfortable to be themselves and never feel pressure to make a change before they are ready. They enjoy the natural and casual atmosphere while still receiving the professional help they need and ultimately the change they are hoping for.
Therapy with me is…
01Honest
I promise to tell you what you need to hear, even if it’s an unpopular opinion. I encourage the same honesty from my clients and promise to receive it without judgement.
02Casual
Come in, sit down, take off your shoes, or put your feet up.. bring your water; a coffee; bring a snack or all three. Feel free to do whatever makes you feel comfortable and relaxed!
03Introspective
We will dive below the surface of what has brought you to therapy and help you determine your “why?”.
04Individualized
No two people are the same and so neither are appointments with me. I tailor my approach to what will be the most beneficial for each client, in that specific moment.
